Factors to consider when preparing ink
When preparing gravure printing ink, the first step is to determine the resin pigment and then choose the solvent, which is an important principle for preparing ink. The following factors are mainly considered in the preparation:
1. The speed of the printing press;
2. The type of substrate;
3. The circulation path of ink;
4. Climate conditions generally require a temperature of 25-30 ℃ and a relative humidity of 65-75% for normal drying.
Requirements to be met for prepared ink
The gravure printing ink prepared according to the above principles must meet the following requirements:
1. Having bright tones, high saturation, good transparency or opacity;
2. Having good printability, including good leveling, transferability, adhesion, and appropriate viscosity;
3. Having an appropriate drying speed to adapt to overprinting and rewinding;
4. It has good flexibility, friction resistance, heat resistance, solvent resistance, and processing resistance.
How to Mix Ink Colors
When mixing ink, it is necessary to determine which type of ink is suitable for mixing based on the color analysis of the original manuscript. For example, if you want to mix lake blue ink, it can be made by visual inspection and practical experience. Among them, white ink is the main color, and peacock blue is the auxiliary color, which should be slightly added. If you want a deeper color, you can slightly add magenta blue. If you want to adjust the olive yellow green ink, you can confirm that it is mainly white ink, add light yellow and peacock blue, and slightly add peach red. As long as the main color is determined, all other colors are auxiliary colors and should be gradually added in small amounts and stirred evenly. Then, use two pieces of paper, one of which is coated with a small amount of the adjusted ink, and use the other piece of paper to scrape it to the thickness of the printed ink layer, which is compared with the original manuscript to see if it is suitable. When comparing the sample manuscript, it is necessary to scrape the relatively thin and light parts of the ink layer on the paper surface to see more accurately. When mixing ink, it is also important to adhere to a principle of minimizing the use of different colors of ink. In other words, if two types of ink can be mixed, do not use three types of ink to reduce the glossiness of the ink. On the other hand, the ink color for scraping the sample should be slightly darker than the original color, so that the printed color sample can be more accurate. After the ink color of the sample is calibrated, batch inking can be carried out according to their respective ink ratio to ensure inking quality and improve work efficiency.
